I took the close-up image above of a fairly large-scale work called “Lifeboat” by a group of WA art students (Marwa Fahmy, Stephen Genovese, Elizabeth Marpole and Kate Parker) at the Sculptures by Sea exhibition recently. Then played around with the gamma settings to get the range of tones above. I really like the origami look of the crisp, waterproof paper and the duotone effect of the top two. Overall they have a calming effect on me.
I may print the top one on watercolour paper and see what it looks like – if it works maybe I’ll make a triptych.
Maybe I won’t :>

Nice. Top two are almost metallic. Reminds me of a Frank Gehry building.

After you mentioned these I finally got there on the last afternoon. I loved this piece and those bluey tones in your third photo are so cool and crisp. Reminds me of the shade of blue in snow shadows.

Oh so glad you did. Which was your favourite?
And you’re right, suddenly realised why it might be called ‘powder blue’…

I have a thing for shiny metal sculptures (they make for great photos), so quite a few floated my boat! My fave was the forest of discs on metal poles. Took lots of snaps of that one. Don’t know the artist’s name – did you get a catalogue?
Thanks for the tip about the display, & lunch of course! Debx
