Here is my first ever wave in pastels, done very quickly in class. We had to use a white background first and then repeat the exercise on a burnt red background.

They are so different! The red background gives so much depth! I have been painting waves using oils, and by chance discovered the power of red to give shadow and depth when applied just under the roll of foam on sand.It was a eureka moment. Hope you are enjoying the pastels, dying to see more. Still ok for WA gallery visit?
