On Wednesday, I spent a lovely day with my friend Katherine, finally having the ‘art day’ that we promised ourselves months ago. OK so we spent a lot of time talking, looking at recent travel picks and enjoying a yummy (home-cooked) lunch but eventually we got around to picking up some pastels and painting to the sounds of my favourite recent discovery, Paolo Nutini. My pastel above was copied from an oil painting by Jean Sher that I saw down at Gunyulgup Gallery last year (see below).
I’m not in the habit of copying other artist’s work but I just loved this image so much and I figure it is good practice for colour-matching etc. Anyway, thanks K for a great day.

it is known as appropriation rather than ‘copying’ so never fear if you use the right label.. x

Picasso had a saying. He said, ‘Good artists copy. Great artists steal.”‘
