My lovely friend Jules (author of favourite interiors blog The Diversion Project) gave me some Fabriano pastel papers recently so I tried one on a grey paper with a speckle through it. The image is based on a photo taken in Provence at dusk but I had to play around with the composition – reverse a few items etc.,.

I didn’t have the right size matt to frame it properly so it got cropped in the last image which isn’t ideal but I think it would look good framed with a really large white matt.

I’m not sure why it appeals to me so much as I did it pretty quickly and it looks naive… something to do with the muted colours and air of solitude I think. Maybe good things happened in this house?
